Art as Life. with Upcycled Creative

As part of our new project, commissioned by The Derby Quad, Lightseekers is proud to be working with Upcylced Creative, an award-winning business based in Derbyshire, specialising in hand-made, upcycled furniture and lighting.

The aim of this project is to reconsider the beauty of everyday objects. We are also considering the impact of industrial decline on people, place and identity as well as meaningful work as a crucial pathway for a life of dignity.

During week1, participants worked with professional sculptor, David Booth. They experimented with paper and other found objects, considering material and form to explore conceptual ideas. You can see what we did one DAY1 and DAY2. The next three sessions will focus on creating new objects out of found materials. You are free to bring your own materials and will keep whatever you create during the workshops.

Lee will be with us for three sessions:

  • Monday 21nd August, 2pm – 5pm
  • Tuesday 22nd August, 5pm – 8pm
  • Wednesday 23rd August, 2pm – 5pm

This project is aimed towards those hoping to learn new skills and/or those hoping to gain experience/knowledge of the professional art sector. You will also learn about exhibition making, planning and design.

Cost: FREE. Participation is voluntary.

Selected works will be displayed within QUAD Extra Gallery Spaces between 29th September – 19th November 2017.
